Do you auto-x or anything ? I like the Hawk ceramics personally. EBC yellowstuff are nice as well.

 

Unless you track it, get some hawk HPS.

 

I took a peek at my front brake pads and they're going to need to be replaced soon. I don't auto-x or track my car, so if I get a set of Hawk HPS pads in the front and keep the OEM pads in the rear, will that cause any problems? Is it ok to run a mismatched set of brake pads like that or should I get a complete front and rear matching set?

 

:notgood: On yellowstuff....use EBC redstuff unless you're going to track it. Redstuff or Hawk HPS for daily driving. If you think Redstuff is too aggressive. Use greenstuff.

Manshow: It shouldn't matter. The fronts do the majority of the work anyways.

 

Yeah, you know, I was reading about the differences between green, red, and yellow stuff pads and I agree with you. Red is probably the way to go for daily driving with these cars ...or Hawks.

 

Red's dust all over the place. So they did on my old 07wrx.... maybe I didn't give them enuff break-in time.

 

They swear to a 50% reduction on brake dust. I think once I made it thru my break in....they've been leaving less dust. The break in coating covered my rims for a while. But, now they're getting far less dusty then ever. How long did you use the pads?

 

Interesting. I'm actually leaning toward the Hawks anyway... still have a bit of time to think about it though, so keep the info coming.

 

I got the Hawk HPS and will be installing them soon. However, I was going to replace my rotors. Can I just use Napa premium rotors or something instead of shelling out big bucks for OEM ones? Does using comparable Napa or Autozone parts make a difference for rotors? Anyone have experience with this?

 

Cheap rotors work just as well, they just have durability issues. They are more likely to warp and will last through fewer turnings before they're out of spec. Course, they're cheaper too. I go with cheap rotors myself. Just check them each time you change pads.
