I have 45k on my limited wrx wagon with some mods. When i shift from 3rd to 4th at a high rpm i get a loud grind. If i shift at a low rpm and slow it is fine. Do you guys think i should start with the tranny fluid in this case as well?

Yes, changing the fluid usually that issue 90% of the time. I have used the "uncle scotty's" blend with success for years, but there has been some speculation that it has downsides. Give your issue a search here and some of the other forums, and change that fluid. It will also make getting into first a lot smoother too.
I have the Andrewtech Cocktail ingredients sitting on a shelf in my garage. They'll be making their way into my car in about 6k more miles.. I can't wait!
Thanks for the info guys...replaced the fluid with 75/90 synthetic gear oil. Seems to be fine now. I anticipate a trans. rebuild in the future but another few thousand on the stock clutch is always good!
