I recently bought an 08 wrx td04 turbo thinking it would be the exact turbo as the oem 06 one. I recently found out that it wasn't. My question is that.. do I need to upgrade anything if I do put it in my car? Currently have Cobb stage 1 tune, aem short ram intake, and a catback. The rest is stock.

The 08 turbo has a completely different compressor outlet configuration. It points up and has a flange that connects to the LGT style intercooler which is designed to go to to the new plastic style manifold. The 06 td04 does not have a flange but has a silicone hose type connection.

On top of that, the 06 turbo is a td04-13t but the 08 is td04-19t which is a bigger turbo that makes just a little bit more power.

So simple answer is, unfortunately no, it won't fit onto your car without pretty significant modifications to your intake path.

td04-13t (02-07 wrx)

td04-19t (08 wrx/LGT/FXT/OBXT)
