Hello i have a 2004 Subaru wrx and what to put a the sti engine in with a six speed manual transmission but did not know if the newer engine and transmission fit in my 04 wrx body. Was wondering if anyone would be so kind enough to let me know because the engine that is in it need some work at the moment and i was planning to build it up over time so i may need some help on info new to the hole engine and transmission swap thing. Best to get a 2L STi motor of the same year ('04 or '05) - referred to as an EJ207 - and skip the driveline swap. It's a brilliant engine, the driveline part of the conversion is more complex and adds 300 lbs to the car

I put an EJ207 in my '04 WRX and it needed a new engine wiring harness and a firewall air conditioning hard line to clear the larger TMIC.
