History
I bought my previous Subaru (an '09 STi) because of the rally- and performance heritage of the earlier cars, so I could say I wanted this one all along.

The earlier cars are less refined, have less sophistication but offer a more visceral driving experience. I spun this one at Mosport (no damage) so they are less forgiving too (no stability control).

This WRX isn't as capable as a newer STi in absolute terms, but it is still a blast to drive and I can see why it was a big hit when it was introduced to North America. I test drove a WRX back then and have wanted one ever since.

Since there are no lease or warranty concerns I am free to upgrade it, and I have a value-based performance fundamentals approach to improvements. It's getting to be like a lightweight '04 STi in overall performance capability.

I'm as happy with it as I was with the '09 STi. :)
