Just have the machine shop clean them up. I think it cost me about $16 to get mine done. I believe they use Acetone when cleaning mine.

I run one that is shimmed and honestly I could have gotten away with running no shims. Just make sure you keep your oil topped off, that thing sucks harder than a ex porn star.

If you don't like the vf series then you won't be happy with that 19t upgrade. The 20t is a TD04HL housing by the way and not a stock wrx housing. Being it was a TD06 lag was horrible on a 2L....

Appearance isn't a good way to judge if a part is good or not. When in doubt take it to a machine shop and have them check it. Would you really wanna gamble another motor on it?
