As far as I know it don't hit the downpipe. The splitter seals to the intercooler so the spray don't go anywhere but directly over the intercooler. Really no different than a stock sti sprayer set...

It's probably because you are not following the map notes. Your supposed to be using a catted j-pipe, a stock intake and filter, and I saw no mention of you removing the 2nd restrictor pill.

Not sure what year but, that's an older engine (pre 02). I can tell by the plug wires. I'm not too sure that's easily going to work in your car with your current ecu and wiring.
