Video? You could just be extra paranoid now and be noticing the loud valvetrain/injector noises these motors make. A decent video of the noise would help though.

Not sure about on the AP, but with open source you can go into the rom and turn off the codes, when you hook up a obdII code reader they won't appear. So you can pass smog and not be bothered with it.

No idea, haven't seen one without the engine cover on. Its just an intercooler though, there is nothing tricky about them, just look at it and figure it out.

He's saying the car is stalling, not just the common dip when coming to a stop that a lot of subaru's do, I've had my intercooler off and my car still ran at idle.

What does having a AP have to do with getting a wideband? Widebands are good for any kind of tune, and give you a heads up if you start running too lean or too rich, both can damage your motor.

No, its just a better way of controlling boost for tuners. A stage 1 should have no need for one. Most people get them when they have boost creep issues or go above stage 2 power levels.

Yeah, its really easy. If this isn't the source of your problem, it will be eventually, you don't need a new hose though, taking the rubber ends off of your stock hose is all you need to do.
