Little boost gauge bright...

If you have the column mounted boost gauge on an earlier 2002 WRX you may notice that it can be a little dimmer than the dash lights...

Fortunately Subaru uses the negitive(ground) as the dimming wire in the dash lights.

Find the yellow wire from the gauge that goes to the stereo... cut it... take the wire from the stereo side fold it over & tape the heck out of it.

Find a bolt on the steering column loosen it up... strip a new piece of wire, twist it good, & stuff it under & tighten back down.

Next, take the new grounded wire & hook it to the yellow wire from the gauge... use solder & tape, or a crimp.

Now when you turn on the lights, dimm them down 2 clicks the brightness matches almost perfectly... just not the color yet...

Cut yellow to gauge & splice gauge side to new ground... add a touch of solder (or crimp) & cover...

Here is an update...
The factory bulb condom is the wrong color & can be changed...
Gage removal isn't fun & requires you to strech & wiggle the gauge out of the pod...

The local auto parts places might have the bulb condoms, if so you need 1/8" or 0.12" size...

If you are realy hard up you can order from a place like this...
$0.17 each in packs of 10

Also if I do it again I'd cut a tiny hole in the tip to let a little more white light through... it is almost a touch tooooo green for me. (I'm picky though)
