im from new orleans lived there intill i was 14 then moved to connecticut so although i live in the north now i still have my roots in louisiana! its nice to see at least some people representing subbies down there, i miss it!
well i will admit i have done a few late night donuts but i try to take it easy most of the time in the bad winter weather and snow but i there is nothing better in the winter than subbies with snow tires! but its still just way to cold for me! even at 70 degress out side im looking for a jacket!
have you ever checked local forums for subbie meets or import shows? i have wondered what the whole tunning community is like down south since i have been away. any good tune shops around even?
honestly i havent really heard of any good tune shops in louisiana but then again i havent been looking that hard... im sure theyre out there somewhere. I have heard of some place in new orleans but thats about it really. I'm not really too close with the import scene around here but the ones i do know about just meet up at parking lots and street race which isnt really my thing especially with a car like the wrx ( at least to me). I've been looking for some people to go to autox tracks with but eh havent found too much of a group around here. How is it for you up north? A good race scene i'd hope
up here its crazy! there are a ton of meets and shows and a few really top notch tune shops! and im just like you, i would never race my wrx! not to mention i use it everyday to go back and forth from school so i really depend on it so a baby it and do everything i can to keep it running smooth and so far so good knock on wood. just a stuck tgv that the dealer replaced but no biggie!
ya just keep looking around i know there must be some good shops around even one that just does custom work may be nice, i guess it doesn't have to be strictly tuners.
what type of work are you planning for your car?
in all honesty im not fully certain yet... since i still have my warranty i probably wont be doing much that would void that...yet. It is afterall my daily driver. Most of what i have planned are little things here and there that wont really void that. Various suspension tweaks perhaps a new axleback exhaust and a short throw would be nice. I'd really like an accessport but thatd void my warranty and at that point i'd pretty much decide to get a new turbo. So for now and at least two years i think i'll work around the warranty
As far as AutoX goes there are a ton of events. There are always drifts and autox at the Evo center in Zachery , LA and also more AutoX events are being held in the Zephyr's stadium in Metairie, LA
This was an event we sponsored at the Zephyr's Stadium a few months back
its not about competing, just to get used to running on a track, and theres gonna be a drag section and a drifting section. if you are comfortable then one of the more experienced guys can ride shotgun and give you instructions. it will be my first time also.
