will mixing octane work?

I was googling 93octane in socal, and it broght me to the caymans club forum. They were talking about filling your car with mostly 91 and then adding in a couple of gallons of 100octane, and you make 93 or 94 octane. Is this true? There are places here that sell 100. VP Racing gas station in Ontario has it for $8.99 a gal. How much should i put?

You can do this, works fine. It's important though that you be consistent. If you get it tuned at a certain ratio, make sure you use at least that much EVERY time you add gas. NO exceptions.

If you want to Raise 91 Octane with 100 octane to... for a 9 Gallon Fillup:
91.5 Octane | 17 to 1 Ratio | 8.5 Gallons of 91 and 0.5 Gallons of 100
92.0 Octane | 8 to 1 Ratio | 8.0 Gallons of 91 and 1.0 Gallons of 100
92.5 Octane | 5 to 1 Ratio | 7.5 Gallons of 91 and 1.5 Gallons of 100
93.0 Octane | 3.5 to 1 Ratio | 7.0 Gallons of 91 and 2.0 Gallons of 100
93.5 Octane | 2.6 to 1 Ratio | 6.5 Gallons of 91 and 2.5 Gallons of 100
94.0 Octane | 2 to 1 Ratio | 6.0 Gallons of 91 and 3.0 Gallons of 100
94.5 Octane | 1.6 to 1 Ratio | 5.5 Gallons of 91 and 3.5 Gallons of 100
95.0 Octane | 1.25 to 1 Ratio | 5.0 Gallons of 91 and 4.0 Gallons of 100
95.5 Octane | 1 to 1 Ratio | 4.5 Gallons of 91 and 4.5 Gallons of 100

at 93, 22.2% of your gas needs to be 100 Octane. At 94, 33.3% of your gas needs to be 100 Octane. Figure $9 for 100 octane and $3 for 91 octane, you are effectively paying $4.33 for 93 octane and $5.00 for 94 octane.

If you really want to do this, I suggest driving to the 100 octane place and filling up 2 or 3 (depending on which octane you want) gas tanks and then driving to a regular gas station. Make sure your tank is fairly run down so you can fit it and then dump in the good stuff followed by 7 or 6 gallons (depending on which octane you want) of the regular stuff.

seems like a lot of work..but for the added performance and not having 93 avail. i guess it would be worth it

If you have everything under control you're going too slow..
