A lot of people have used that downpipe with no issues.

Should save for an EM or at least a catted downpipe. The 06's have a lot of boost creep issues with being catless and especially without EM.

Water/Alky injection, but I may be biased.

Just curious, it would be safer to go with EM first so why not take the safe route? The performance gain I got through the Cobb AP was great so I see no downside of getting the Cobb AP then go for your catted turboback.
To answer your question I have yet to hear of boost creep issue being a major factor with catted downpipes in 06 WRX's.

because an AP costs more than twice as much as a downpipe. If you had more money, the better answer would be "both"

check out gruppe-s.com. They sell helix downpipes catted or catless and they come with CEL fixes. Good prices too. ($229 catless downpipe)

I would have to say either the down pipe or, an up-pipe. Although it is probably the hardest install, the up-pipe was the one piece (besides my A.P.) that I noticed the biggest power difference. It was after I installed my TBE so, I don't know if that had anything to do with it either. I personally have an Invidia D.P. with a high flow cat, as well as cat-back , and I love them both! I was complimented in it the other day by a dude in a black rsx-s. he asked me what kind it was and said it was badass. I would recommend it to anyone. it's been great. I purchased mine at www.scoobytuner.com. A catless wold be a bit cheaper, but it's all in what you prefer.

Lucky him, he has no cat in his uppipe so not much to be gained by going with an aftermarket.
