Well, before the pro tune and the Ecu flash the car ran 188 whp on the dyno. After the Ecu flash and tune it ran 247 whp. I haven't taken it to the track yet. Honestly, I've never even been to a track ever in my life! I'd be curious to go though and see how it does, but I'm just REALLY inexperienced with racing on the track.

this might sound like a stupid question but do you notice a BIG improvement in power ?
the reason I'm asking you this is because i am in the transitory state of getting the 07 wrx and wanted to mod the car for a few bucks without putting anything on the exterior (Quebec is not the best place in the winter time for a spoiler Kit)
anyhow, thanx a lot

YES!!! I noticed a little improvement from just the intake, downpipe and exhaust. But after the Ecutek programming, it did quite a bit. I mean, it didn't make my car an ABSOLUTE MONSTER, but it helped out and the gains were definitely noticeable.

If you want a cheap turbo upgrade for the 06, pick up a used turbo/intercooler off of somebody's STi. They're cheap and available because ppl upgrade those too. Anyway, the 06's fuel system is comprable to the STi so you can run that no problem. With A good tune, the VF39 nets 280whp ish on the EJ25. It's possible to get this for under a grand!

A more extreme choice like a big 18G or 20G or something would require new injectors/fuel pump and a new intercooler.

I'd avoid the larger VF turbos. They're expensive, not rebuildable, and probably need fuel system upgrades anyway.

ok, so I've been hearing different things now. Is the stock turbo on an Sti a VF39 or a VF30? I've heard from both sides. But someone now says that a VF30 would be a SMALL turbo for my 2.5L engine. What's the deal??? Which one's better? VF30 or VF34...

Thanks for the very informative link! Answered a lot of questions....

But I wanted to know what I needed FOR SURE if I go with the VF30 or VF34. It is said that I will need new injectors, fuel pump and a bigger intercooler. But from what I've been hearing, supposedly the 06 WRX's injectors are just as good as the Sti's injectors... Is this true, and if so does this mean I don't have a need to upgrade the injectors.
-Will I need an upgraded fuel pump? if so, which one is recommended.
-Which intercooler would anyone suggest?

Thanks!

I'd go with either the STI intercooler or the TMIC that is on ebay if you're on a budget. If you have the money to spend then go with like Perrin or one of those big TMICs. Your injectors are fine but the pump MAY need to be upgraded. I am not 100% sure there though.

Where can you source a VF34? I thought they were hard to find.

I've found BRAND NEW VF30 & VF34 for about $850 and I also found a new APS intercooler for $850. Kinda more than I want to spend, but I can't really find anything used... I'd prefer to get the turbo NEW, but the intercooler I wouldn't mind it being used. I don't remember where I saw the APS intercooler for $850, but the turbos I found on ebay.

Thanks! Oh yeah, so does anyone have any insight on the Turbo XS TMIC? I found one NEW for only $300..... I know they usually run about $600-$700. But I was wondering if they were any good. Would it be any better than a stock Sti intercooler? I might have found someone who may want to sell me their used Sti intercooler off their '05 Sti, but I was wondering if the Turbo XS TMIC was better, since it looks considerably larger. Any opinions anyone?

I believe the TurboXS intercooler would be a better choice for you.

Also, I just saw that on www.gruppe-s.com they have the VF34 with free shipping for $869. Might be worth it to get it from a reputible dealer than someone on ebay and you also don't have to worry about shipping costs.

Awesome! Good looking out man That site has some good stuff. Too bad they're on the opposite side of the country, cause I'm in Florida. But they seem legit and I might give em a try. So you got your 2007 limited Sti yet?

No problem. May take a little longer to ship it to you but it's free and you don't have to worry about ebay scam crap.

STI limited comes in the end of September... it was confirmed for me yesterday by the regional SOA rep.
