VF39 restricor pill

Hey guys I was looking at the VF39 to swap into my 06 and when you Flash to Stage 3 via the COBB map, it asks you to drill out the restrictor pill in. Wouldn't it be easier to purchase the STI restrictor pill?? Instead of drilling the one in your car now? Or is the restricor pill on the STI the same size and diameter as the WRX?
Thanks!

Ask Cobb or a competent Subaru Tech if you know any. I'd think it to be the same. Since that mod from Cobb applys to 07 subarus in general. So, just swap it to the Cobb approved pill and be fine if your an 07. I think the 06s don't suffer from the problem.

I just noticed that too, that they are only for the 07. Anyone have experience with the 06TR? Or like turmic stated that you only have to drill out the restrictor pill on the 07? Thanks again.

Mine is a 06TR but, I haven't done what your asking about. I'm interested in the results though.

The typical answer is that you "should" be able to use the restrictor pill that comes with the STi or stock VF-39 turbo. Its slightly larger then the #57 drill bit that they recommend you use if drilling out the stock pill that comes with a wrx / tr setup. That pill is very tricky...too big and you will have troubles obtaining the max boost numbers put forth in the Cobb OTS maps. Too small, and you risk a boost spike in the higher RPMS (not to be confused with boost creep!). I've put VF39's and VF34's, and sadly it can be hit or miss. That drilling can be a B@tch to get right!
