VF39, not 309. And a the guy trying to sell that EVOIII is a ricer because of what he claimed. That's not why you weld a wastegate shut. That being said, of the 2 I'd probably buy the VF39 and have it rebuilt. There is something seriously wrong with that EVOIII if it's only $100.

I've heard/read good things about the 68HTA. It's an in-between turbo and spools great on the 2.5L. But this really all depends on your budget, your goal, etc. and if you want to stick to IWG or EWG.

That EVO16g was used for someone with a external wastegate, but for $100 I'd bet it needs rebuild and probably has some fin damage.

As far as rebuilding a VF-39, I know it can be done, but for the cost of the rebuild kits you could probably find a new turbo and just be done with it honestly...

^ no biggie Keith. If it's a true Blouch Evo, they can rebuild those for next to nothing...

Not tryin to jack this thread but does anyone know if the 68hta on a 2.5L 2008 wrx with a EWG, FMIC and a power goal of 300 to 350whp would be a good choice. looking for a good turbo with fast spool and more ripens than a td-04

No need for a FMIC or EWG to reach 300whp. I have heard that the 6bhta can hit 300whp, but I haven't seen it with my own eyes or even a video or dyno chart. Then again I don't believe in dyno numbers. Keep in mind you'll need bigger injectors as well.

HTA will make ~300 whp. If your goal is closer to 350, you might want to pick up something bigger.

Working wastegate, oil residue on the inside of the exhaust side. Which could indicate oil seal going bad. Crack in the turbine or compressor housing.

Yeah and Mike is hooking me up with my turbo. Which my 2.5 XTR is toasted...I'm getting a Dom 3.0 with a compressor that is simular to a GT30 wheel. It is a new wheel for the Dom 3.0 and I'm getting it for cheap. I probably shouldn't even be saying this....because its through my tuner who has a working sales partnership with Blouch.
