Took off Intake Silencer, car slower?

So I took off the intake silencer today on my 2006 WRX and yea, the engine noise improved, but I seriously feel as if in 1st gear and the rest, but noticebly immediately at first, the acceleration is poorer. This really upsets me.!Cry! What gives?!WTF has anyone else experienced or heard of this? I thought I had read up on the DIY mod and heard that there were no drawbacks.

Reset the ECU. Disconnect the negative terminal and put your foot on the brake until the odometer diasppears.

Its in your head. That silencer does nothing except what its name implies. I thought the same thing when I went stage 2, but my trap speeds proved different.

Sorry to ask but can someone link me to the thread were it gives me the step to do this?? Just want to see if it really works,

Why?

nyway I reseted the ECU initially when I took off the silencer, you think I should do it again?

My car felt fine with the intake silencer out.

If you think it loses power why not just put it back in and put your mind at ease?

I removed my silencer as well and thought the same thing. I modified my old silcencer to make an elbow, which takes advantage of the stock air port on the front of the car. If you look at my profile, then you can see what I did. You can also go online and find a replacement part for about $40.

when i took the silencer off, and installed the intake elbow, i didnt notice sound or performance. but either way, i did it, and its one less thing i dont have to worry about installing in the future.

Well I did it as well, and just a quick question is it the big piece of plastic with two ends at the end??? If not I couldn't find it, when I took it of though I do notice that my boost actually comes up quicker and since I have a boost gauge I can tell. Can't really tell the difference, which I already knew it wouldn't make a difference, but the responds is alittle bit different but just alittle. Anyways did I take off the right thing????
