if you don't know what's under your hood, that's a damn problem right there. Take it to somewhere that can tell you. Also, since you clearly don't know enough about this car to know what's under the hood, you don't know enough to judge how well it's running. Get the thing tuned.

your running an oversized turbo with absolutely no supporting mods on a stock exhaust.

You are going to break something.

your options are....

get a stock sti turbo vf39 and put it on your stock car to make it stock. so things dont get jacked up...

or...

buy a down pipe and get engine management...

you pick. just get it done.

bigger and better than ever

if you have a vf22 like you said, you absolutely need a full 3inch turbo back exhaust perfererably catless. then you need some form of engine managment w/ a map that supports you turbo. and lastly a protune will net you the true power the car possesses.

I have heard and read different things.Mostly I have read that there is a little more lag with a FMIC. Some people say its not noticable. They say a problem with the TMIC is heatsoak. But you can get heat wrap and heat shields for most of that to solve that problem. I personally like the TMIC option as it doesn scream to be noticed like a FMIC. As far as gains, Im not sure though.

a fmic would be a little bit of a over kill for your setup, how deep into mass are you? would you consider driving to east hartford, ct. not too far over the line for you

Well its pretty much a personal preference I would figure. Most what I have read all the high horsepower cars use the FMIC.
