Sti Turbo For WRX....?

a buddy of mine just put a top rotated top mount turbo in his 05 sti
and has his old stock 05 sti turbo with about 30k on it and its not blown...

would the 05 sti turbo fit a 06 wrx non sti..... all i would need is bigger injectors and
some kind of em.... correct?

Correct. It would work just fine. I would also suggest picking up his TMIC if he switched to a FMIC.

Yyea i was checking out the ssautochrome tmic there dirt cheap and bigger than the STI ones and ive heard good things about it might pick one of those up...
anything els i should consider

a fuel pump

baller_v24 11-15-2007 10:18 AM

yea a TBE, a fuel pump and BCS. you will need all these. for the turbo upgrade.

baller_v24 11-15-2007 10:18 AM

you beat me by 2 mins nagy. lol

On the o6 wrx the injectors are the same as the sti so you could save the money, but yeah get a bigger I.C, TBE, fuel pump and a good tune.

p.s you might want to double check the info on the injectors cause i know the 07 wrx injectors are in fact the same as the sti.

yea.. i have VF39 too but my 07' doesn't need bigger injecters.
it's already flowing 500+cc.
but u need fuel pumps, ems, TBE, bigger TMIC or front mount(laggy)

i was just going to throw on a bigger TMIC for the fact that i know and have heard the
FMIC's are laggy.... That should be enough.

I have an OBX TMIC. I think i like it...it was cheap...$300 isn't that bad...

The 06-07 WRX actually has a couple CC larger than the STI... I no it is weird, but that is what a Subaru Tech with an 06 STI told me himself.

The VF39 will be basically a direct bolt on. You will NEED a tune, at least the STI TMIC and Y-pipe, TBE, and then there is a little restrictor pill that will need to be drilled out a little to give you proper vacuum to run the VF39. A fuel pump will help your fuel efficiency go down, but it should also help with the fuel delivery to that thirsty engine that is now running a bigger turbo.

Be sure to check and double check for cracks in the housing on the turbo and for any play in the turbine shaft!

This will point you in the right direction with the complete list of upgrades that will be advisable to get this upgrade to work properly.

Its really simple, surprised no one just laid it out:
1.STI TMIC ($250-$300)
2.Fuel Pump (optional) ($100)
3.Cobb AP or some other form of engine management (The AP has OTC maps) ($400-
$600)
4.A Turbo-Back exhaust (catless, or with one high-flow cat) ($400-$700)
5.An upipe (this depends on the year, 06 will NOT need it) ($130)
6.A boost gage (if you don't already have one) ($120)

Cobb AP OTS map shows an increase to 360+HP and 350 ft. lbs of torque (stock your currently seeing 227 hp and about 220 ft. lbs. torque)

Trust me, its like driving a whole different car!

Minimum, you'll need 1,3,4 tp even start that VF-39!
