STI TMIC to 06 WRX???

I'm new on here and pretty new to the WRX community, i was just wondering if putting a OEM STI TMIC on my 06 WRX is going to give me any gains? And also what are the risks of doing this mod? The dealership already told me it will void my warranty, but is there any engine or other problems i should be expecting? Thanks

i dont think it can hurt you, it just means more air and better cooling.

When upgrading intercoolers you run the risk of a few side effects, however the difference between and STI and OEM WRX is not that much so you really will not have to worry..

BUT..

The general side effects of upgrading the TMIC to a larger one on a stock or too small of a turbo..
1. Increased spool up due to larger "Plenum" space that you now need to pressurize.
2. More air volume which could mess with AFRs..
3. Colder intake air temperatures which will result in yet more air volume furthering effects of #2..

Did I forget anything??

For this application as I said prior the STI is not much bigger so your not going to get much of gain or side effect..

^^I believe that the claim that the 06 intercooler is more efficient was based on the new front end. I remember something from SOA about the new front end being more arodynamic thus allowing for a smaller scoop and smaller intercooler. It still doesnt explain why it is only an inch thick...i assume to reduce heat sync..but Im not an automotive engineer.
