First of all congrats. Second of all, beware, your MPG is going to be hell. As for retaining its value, WRXs hold their value pretty well and there is high demand on it, so the car will still be worth. Seeing how its winter though and its going to begin to snow, I would suggest getting new tires.

Since June or July, mine's gotten over 12,000 miles with no problem, so with mileage as low as 10,000 a year, you won't have a problem.

From Florence, AL to Florence, SC, it's almost 500 right on the mark. So there's 1,000. The first 5 days I had it, I put 1,000 on it for break-in. 2,000. Then we drove from this end of the state (far north) to the Gulf of Mexico...plus LOTS of 2 hour trips to Birmingham with 2 hour return trips...and even more 1 hour trips to Huntsville. I also drive around town a lot.

I just got my STI a month or so ago and using it as a daily driver. Gas mileage is probably going to be your biggest issue.

Man is it a joy to get in it every morning though. Have fun.

One thing ya gotta remember is that STis use oversized Brembo brake calipers and rotors and the car is built to race at the track, so of course brake pads are going to be thru the roof b/c your not really buying them from Subaru, Subaru is the middleman between you and Brembo. Thus Subaru will markup the price to profit off of it.
