STI block for......Free!

So i work as a tech over at mazda and the subaru shop is in the same shop as mazda (being theres only one subaru tech) and he was recently replacing the motor on a 05 STi and we got to talking i asked him what was wrong with the old block and he said that something got inside and scratched up the head on cylinder #1....i asked if there was damage to the block he said no and i said could i buy it from you and he said no you can just have it, he told me it turns and he saw no damage to the block but told me to just take out the #1 piston and rod just to make sure nothing was in there, so yeah im getting a 2.5 block for nothing....just thought that was a cool story you guys might enjoy

What do u guys think....would getting the sti heads be worth it?? is there gunna be that much of a difference because if i get that then i need all the other stuff like the wire harness throttle pedal, etc...i was thinking of just port and polishing the 2.0 heads, and correct me if im wrong but don't the 2.0 heads bolt directly on to the 2.5 block

They will bolt to the 2.5 block, but it raises compression a bit, from 8.0 to 8.5 or so if I remember correctly(the WRX heads have a smaller combustion chamber). As for the WRX heads, port and polish will work, but not need. I would suggest at least a set of STi cams to help the motor breath easier. Everything from your WRX should bolt up. I would also suggest getting a fuel pump to keep things safe if you use the stock injectors. Ummm that's about everything I can think of right now. I will edit this post if I come up with more.

DTRacing™ ::# Custom Tuning Services## “Get a Dom Tune!” $45 for OTS map and 1 week of fine tuning. You could sell your AP and buy a WB and have money left over to buy something else.
