SPT catback exhaust specs

I was looking at using an SPT catback exhaust to complete my exhaust system. Right now I have a Helix catted downpipe. I would like to have 3" from the turbo back. I heard that the SPT is a 3" exhaust but that the midpipe tapers to 2.5" to mate with the stock downpipe. If this is true it seems like it would defeat the purpose of putting in a bigger exhaust because there would be a bottleneck in the middle of the system. Is this a bad choice for a catback? because it seems that they can be picked up used for cheaper then other catback setups and i have heard good things about the way they sound.

The SPT exhuast does tapper right at the flange where it meets the downpipe. All you have to do is take it to a muffler shop, have them cut the flange off the spt pipe and weld on a 3 inch and you are good to go. that is what others have done that have the SPT exhuast that want 3inch all the way.

Does anyone have any idea on the cost of having it welded to 3" and also how do you attach it to the downpipe if the coupling is cut off?

I would hardly call that thing a taper. It's probably like 2.8-2.9". The spt was made to run on either flat flange or donut gasket, so imo the "taper" is not worth fiddling with. Btw, I really liked how mine looked and sounded too.
