You're gonna need a shop to do it. You have to replace the bearings and the seals when you pull them off. New bearing need to be pressed in by a machine.

Does that go for all years? I have an '04 WRX and I was under the impression that the front studs were pressed into the rotor.....I was wrong. From what I read from the manual I have, I have to remove the axle nut. Before I do that, I have to ensure that there is no wieght on the front axle in order not to damage the front axle springs.

That was told to me by someone that changed his out, but from what I understand now, it's no where near that complicated.

Not sure all that's involved, but if the wheel hub and bearing is involved...My friend and i tried to replace my front bearing in my 90 Accord. We thought we did it ok...that weekend for prom I drove from Cleveland to Cedar Point (about a 2 hr trip). Going there was ok but the car seemed a little noisy...leaving there the car got REALLY noisy and when I pulled off the exit ramp back home there was metal on metal contact I luckily was able to get it to my house and when I took it apart the actual metal balls fell out from the bearing lol...
Moral of the story...a shop needs to press the wheel bearing into the hub, because if you and you friend hit it in with a hammer, bad things will happen, haha...

Well I got the studs replaced. All it took was to remove the entire spindle, took it to a local shop where they were cool enough to remove the studs and put new ones in for free. Once that was done, I just installed the spindle back. The only down side, if there is one, is I had to buy a ney ball joint, since I damaged the old one with the pickle fork removing the spindle.

That's great! (except for the ball joint!) Gotta love when the shops help you out!
