pros and cons of raising boost on a VF39

could someone be kind enough and tell me what the pros and cons are of raising boost on the vf39 in the 2006 wrx?
reason being im swaping out everything out for a more agressive setup and im not entirely sure how it will effect the overall longevity of the ej.

thanks

Pros- more boost = more power
Cons- wears your car out faster

Pretty much general principle of knowledge for all cars...

*EDIT* make sure you are tuning for this, or else you are pretty much increasing the cons and decreasing the pros...

Any increase in power or boost will wear out the engine faster than the facory setup generally. As long as you drive reasonably and dont always run it to red line and beat on the car it should be fine though.

The minute you start modding your car your taking the chance of breaking something.I guess you have never heard the phrase "You gotta pay to play".Just the way it goes.TONs of people do the VF39 swap.Search around....

if you want 300+ Hp you need more than a Vf-39. that will only get you to 275 ish. or are you talking about crank HP?

well not only just the turbo but a walbro fuel pump, 4" catless dp, to 3" straight pipe and an sti topmount. all that with the custom tune. would all of that yield me 300awhp?

depends on tune and dyno. Do you really have to hit that number? only one true way to find out, and that's to go do it.

only way you're going to hit 300whp with that turbo is a high reading dyno, alky/meth injection, race gas with a race map, or some internal work. It's only a number. You're 1/4 mile trap speed is more important IMHO.

I have no idea why people are so set on numbers.Do you have any idea how dynos work and the varibales that come into play when dyno tuning?Altitude, octane, humidity, ambient temp, dyno type, tune, supporting mods...........lots of variables.

i apologize for my ignorance. going from <120hp to 180 was like night and day, but when i got in my friends wrx and felt that power. i wanted more power in my car. i understand that there are a bajillion variables that go into dyno tuning and all but now im just looking forward to having more power to all 4 wheels. and if i dont hit that 300awhp mark o well, ill be pretty freakn close and that in itself is good enough for me cause ill be going from stock to stage III in a day which is pretty freakn amazing.
