New turbo blouch rebuild

Well today while drivin to work. I went into boost and heard this god awful noise. Turns out my turbo is shot. The turbine is hitting the housing sometimes when I hit 12 and higher boost. So I went and got another tdo4-13t . Ill be dropping it off for blouch to rebuild with bigger internals and port and polish it. After that is all done ill be going to cbrd for a final install and tune. Ill post numbers onces everything is done

Most people will probably tell you its not worth it to have a TD04 upgraded.

Haha as I've heard. But I wanna see what power it'll put down almost as an experiment. Not many people have dyno results with these that might be because not many
People do it. But blouch facility is 20 mins from my house. It'll be quick spool and instant torque from what I've read

You do realize that for what your going to pay for the upgraded turbo you could get a nice 16g for more power and about the same amount of lag? Also I'd bet the turbine was hitting the housing all the time not just when you are in boost... :P

06_hawk_eye 06-25-2013 09:31 PM

I can only Hear the screeching sound when in high boost Haha. What new 16g turbo can I get for 500$?

I have an appointment on the 22nd for my install and tune at cbrd. If I can somehow get a 16g with really low miles before then ill do that. I will be dropping my tdo4 off at blouch on the 8th unless I can find a used 16g or a sti turbo

Soo... After just wondering around my engine bay I notice that that the clamp around my coupler from intercooler to throttle body was loose the coupler was squished around the bottom and wasn't a secure connection. Re adjusted the clamp and coupler. Took for a drive and no problem now no unusual noise. Now I have a vf39 just chilling. No need to go to bigger turbo yet. Gonna gather some parts now and wait another couple months on the tune. Wish I would of looked closer when I first heard the noise
