Exclamation Most intense spool

I got an 06 rex. I want the most intense spool i can get. My stock td04 spools pretty fast. But what are some mods or turbos that would help me rock the world of low and mid range power(im not to worried about top end)?

A Tri-Ball bearing turbo will spool the fastest.. Keeping the Hot Side (exhaust housing) small will also aid in faster spool. Just remember that an amazingly fast spooling turbo will most likely limit your top end.. It will in esence not flow enough air and max out..

Edit: just noticed your note about top end, Also I have never seen them listed anywhere but I know they are made..

i would get stage 2 plus stock headers p & p and a really, really good tune, maybe a fuel pump if u get an aggresive but slightly moderate tune.

Open the air flow through the car. I have bellmouth DP and no cats. way faster spool and lower end. but there's nothin like lag and top end power. being threw back in your seat through the entire RPM range in just fun

Titanium Pistons / Rods are also out there which will aid in engine reving which inturn will help spool a turbo faster.. However the cost is CRAZY...

If cost really isnt a factor .... theres always the COBB STG 2 PRO or Prodrive Short blocks .... they are insane from all aspects ! ! ! They should be good for about 600whp

you can tune it with a hydra ems.

it will rip up your turbo though.

If you REALLY don't care about cost... here's what you can do.
1. Like wrxkid said, you can get a twinscroll turbo with titanium internals (such as the vf36). Since you don't care about top end, it will do the job well. If you REALLY don't care about top end there's the vf38, which also has titanium internals, but it's smaller than the vf36.
2. In addition to tiwnscroll and titanium you can shorten the exhaust and intercooler piping by doing something similar to this guy.

As you can see, since his turbo is right behind his front bumper, that allows all the header runners to be much shorter and also similar (if not equal) length. Your headers (with the twinscroll turbo) will be 4-2 as well. On top of that, the turbo will be breathing RIGHT into the intercooler, which in turn will be exiting RIGHT into the intake manifold.
3. Of course you'd have to do all the typical, boring stuff too. That means turboback exhaust, 3 port bcs, port and polish absolutely EVERYTHING, ceramic coat everything on the exhaust side, wrap the headers, external wastegate, antilag (if you want) built block (pick your displacement, but obviously more = faster spool), and dual avcs heads, with engine management, of course.

If you do all that, you'll easily be over the cost of buying another wrx, but your car will be BADASS!!! Can you tell I've thought through this before? Sigh... if only I had money like you.

Actually Metro is correct, the location of the turbo (so close to the exhaust ports) and the inline style of the motor (notourious TQ builders) alows for massive power easier then a Subaru..

Wrexd is also on to an idea if you run a FMIC with the Rotated Intake Manifold, however For max spool i would stick with a TMIC as the turbo is going to be smaller anyway and not have the flow to really need a FMIC..

So lets list here...

Smaller Twin Scoll setup with TI turbo / or Tri Ball Bearing setup
TI internals
Light weight Flywheel
Light weight pulleys
Light weight Wheels
Fully worked over heads with P&P / Cams
2.65L Stroker or 2.8L block if you want to go crazy..
Clean, smooth intake and exhaust to maximize flow.
Hydra or = Engine management for Anti Lag (to stay spooled up) <- not really sure you need anti lag..
- Lets not forget Vehicle Weight Reduction.. The lighter the car the easier it will be to accelerate thus increasing engine revs faster thus boosting sooner..
