just starting

i installed the invidia v3 divorced wastegate dp on my 04 sti about a month ago. it made a pretty big difference but don't know what to go for next. either up-pipe or cbe. i was thinking invidia n1 race exhaust but was wondering if anybody knew the hp gains from those 2 together or if it was too loud. other 2 choices are borla hush and greddy evo2.
or go for the catless invidia up-pipe first and get the exhaust in a couple of weeks.

any input for a new modder?

go with cheap on a CBE. It's all sound. You might at max get 3-4hp gains.

STis come with catless uppipe last time I checked, so really no need to replace. I would either go with a CBE or engine management.

Engine management. It will allow you to flash a stage 2 map and get a little more out of the downpipe. Or just get a tune on the car. Neither of the other parts are really needed, like said the CBE is for sound/looks really.

I think either saving up and getting beter EngineManagement or upgrading turbo, injectors, intercooler... The STi is fairly potent in the power department already, with a DP and engine management, you should be very satisfied with just that and then move on to suspension work (if you like handling) or just save up and upgrade the turbo...

so just having a downpipe on would support a new turbo?

Well that, inectors, fuel pump and a larger intercooler of sorts. The DP sorts out the exhaust portion of that equation though.

so step by step would be:
1. injectors
2. fuel pump
3. intercooler
4. turbo

??
would the sti tmic be sufficient if i upgrade the turbo before i upgrade the ic.

Thats pretty much the right steps, a tune has to immediately follow with most those mods both for safety and to get the most out of them. Im really sure that the STI I/C would really limit you especially if the turbo in your previous post is what you are looking at.

I like streetable. The Green gives a ton of power but still spools decently. There are certainly larger turbos out there though. The green is going to limit horribly on your STi TMIC. You should look into a much larger intercooler. FMICs are often used as they permit more space but if you're particularly concerned about spool, a green works with a big TMIC as well (although I'd go APS/perrin despite the price because you need size).

Your bypass valve is good for about 20PSI as well so you prob want to replace it when you replace intercoolers. Might I suggest the perrin 100% recirc valve?

Another mod often added is a better boost control solenoid (a 3-port) to help regulate the higher boost levels more smoothly.

And ALL of this needs a tune ASAP once it's on your car.

Thats great advice right there. Im with Mosc about streetability. The green should be good for you. Do you have a goal, power wise for the car? Figure that out and then go from there, might be a little easier to pick and choose parts then.
