Intake Search

Does anyone know if this style of intake is available anymore? Or does anyone have one for sale?

Huh? That is not an intake.

That is the stock air box with a perrin after maf hose. Nothing special about that. You can buy that after MAF hose from almost any vendor (i.e. JSC Speed: Performance Parts Warehouse ; Modern Automotive Performance: Your source for turbocharged sport compact performance!). However, it offers almost no performance gain.

Just throw in a clean filter in your stock box and call it a day. Intakes offer almost no performance gain over the stock box, until you upgrade the turbo and need more flow.

That wide-mouth inlet tube is stock?

newtothegame 10-03-2009 02:08 PM

That blakc piece, yes, its stock. Check subarugenuineparts.com.

Well I feel stupid. I had no idea that was stock. I bought my car with a CAI already installed so I had never seen one of those before. Thanks for your knowledge guys. I am looking into intakes because I have to get something before winter hits. I can't run my CAI in New England without the risk of hydro-locking my engine.:notgood:

There are other reasons why CAIs are bad, but there are plenty of threads about that.

I have one of those sweet intakes from my car if you want to buy it!!

booosted09 10-16-2009 07:33 PM

you might want to look at finding a stock airbox to run during the winter..also in Mass so i know how it is...and it also seems to be starting a little early :)

mfarnham 10-17-2009 02:47 PM

Thanks for the offer Nagyhead, but my mechanic is just going to set me up with a SRI.

What brand: Cobb, SPT, other? Even though it may not be the prettiest thing in the world, a heat shield is definitely a good idea with a short ram intake.

mfarnham 10-18-2009 08:58 AM

Its the "aFe" short ram intake, with heat shield.
