Hesitation..

wuts up guys....for a few days now my car has been hesitating under heavy throttle...the mods that i have include an injen short ram intake, MBC (14.5 psi max) rps stage two clutch and act street light flywheel.....it takes off nicely till about 4 grand and then almost seems like its running lean which may very well be the problem...but then 5 grand hits and it thros u back in the seat...ive had these mods for a while and this hasnt happened at all before, even when i ran higher boost....any help would be greatly appreciated

Take off the mbc and let the ecu control the boost and then report back on what you find. Also, after you take off the mbc, reset the ecu (unplug battery and hold down brake pedal).

Do you have a wideband in the car or any sort of logging stuff? That could help diagnose things a bit. I've seen this before with my old car and it was the spark plugs were all fubar from running too rich and I suppose that your running lean may have contributed to destruction of the spark plugs, but lets see what it does without the mbc first.

Heh, I wonder how many people here have gone from dsms to wrxs. Oh well... at least I won't need to change wires anymore when I pick up my STI in August... Coil on Plug ftw.

You have coil packs on your car, there are no spark plug wires. But you can try replacing your spark plugs, I, like Denso Iridium.
Personaly I don't think that will help your problem, try cleaning your MAF in your intake with some electronic cleaner only! With intakes they tend to get dirty easier and can screw up your readings. Also try resetting your ECU.

def try cleanin the MAF..i know if you have the K&N or even any intake that requires some oiling, too much oil will cause the excess oil to get sucked up and what a better place for it to stick but the MAF....could very well be that because that happened to my first car and had a similar reaction stalled once in a blue moon too....

MBC+ Intake= blown motor. Those are some of the two worst mods you can do to a WRX if you don't have a custom tune for those parts.

Yeah man, I was reading through that mod list ... and those are all the mods people here will tell you not to get for our cars (except maybe the flywheel).

You're pulling timing around 4K, this explains the hesitation. Driving through the problem is only going to make things worse. You need to log between 4 and 5K and see what's going on. You keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fixing a roasted engine soon.
