GT35R or T3/T4 hybrid?

Ok so obviously im new to subarus, and starting a new build. Im the mechanic for a friend of mine with an 06 wrx and hes shooting for around 350whp. Kind of fast for being new to it, but since i want to learn to build these cars, whatever

So i considered my options, ran a search etc and came up with probably a Gt35R around 15-18psi, or a Turbonetics T3/T4 hybrid around the same. Im looking for a decent spool and since i have background on mitsu turbos im trying to steer away from them. Other than injectors, possibly safc or another fuel controller, fmic, dp, it already has an intake (SEC i believe) what should i turn to? Our first mods of course will be turbo timer, (it has a catback), wideband, fuel, then turbo.

350whp isn't so much as to require those turbos. A GT30R can hit those levels and spools faster.

... and your tranny is gunna die at that power real quick.

The T3T4 will spool sooner as will a GT30.. You don't need the lag of a GT35R unless you want 450+...

Also no SAFC, utalize a piggy back ECU for fuel control.. If you stick with a "Stock Location" turbo you don't need as much.. Do you plan to internal or external gate? There are a lot of options out there..

You will need:
Piggy back ECU or equal.. Example: COBB AP, UTEC, Open Source...
Injecters.. As for flow, that depends on the type of tune.. If you plan to tune for Max TQ then you will need a higher flow so you can throw a tone of fuel to up your timing which will pull out high TQ numbers but also limit your motors life more...
A fuel rail is not a bad idea, along with an upgraded BOV and boost controler to run more consistant.. EGH.. My brain is not at 100% after working today so I hope someone can throw in the things I may have forgotten..

You'll need a PPG to run that clutch. Actually at 350whp, you should really try to afford one anyway. Why is everyone in such a hurry to put some massively grippy clutch in their car?

Oh, and listen to shoaf

well it is awd...hence the grippy clutch...ive grown up with displacement engines (302, 3.0Turbo, etc) and ive had all too many instances with a slipping clutch. If the trans has to come out for a gear set upgrade, might as well throw a clutch on too while its out. Stage 2 if not 3. As for the wastegate i wanted to keep it internal set at 15psi. Keeping it bolt ons, possibly porting the exhaust mani. Honestly, i spoke with him after i posted this, and im pretty sure he would be happy with 300whp. But thanks for your input.

A grippie clutch is cool with a nice gearset upgrade.. However, RA is not in that catagorie jus for the record, they break as the tooth root is not much better the the stock design..

Internal gate makes things a lot simpler, and eliminates the gt35r as only a few companies even offer it as a bolt on and it's not a true 35r so pass on that..
