Getting an intercooler...

Hey, i have an 05 sti and its mostly stock..i wanted to get an fmic for it but was wondering if i needed a turbo upgrade to do so without losing power..if not what mods would be needed to support the front mount?

You would need a tune to notice any gains from the FMIC if any. I think you also have to change out your intake also for the piping to fit on that side.

There will be more lag with a FMIC, turbo size doesn't have much to do with it (unless you want to put something smaller on there just to make up the spool difference). The FMIC is kind of overkill for small turbos is maybe what you've heard. That doesn't mean it's required that you get a large turbo to use it, it just means there's not much point unless you get something larger.

alrght thanks guys...i was wanting to get a fmic, a short ram, upipe, downpipe with an exhaust and a tune but i didnt wanna get a larger turbo so i was just curious, do you guys have a clue what type of numbers i would be getting with whp?

matters on the type of dyno, the ambient temperature, how aggressive your tuner is, the individual characteristics of your car, and a million other factors. Numbers are just numbers m8, get it tuned for reliable power and don't stress each individual whp.
