those two parts are designed to use the same hole I believe. Regardless of how stupid CAI intakes are on a WRX, you can't use an APS FMIC with a CAI in the first place!

CAI with a TMIC...sure, not a FMIC though.

From the APS site:

"As of June 2003 production, this product has been redesigned to work in harmony with the stock engine management. These updated units are distinguished with the numerals "65" cast into the inside diameter of the engine hose end and redesigned not to cause a check engine light.".

Personally I like the AEM CAI, and getting EM after mods like this is always a good idea. Do you have wideband to measure the A/F ratio? If not, better to be safe than sorry.

Kartboy and Perrin and Cobb...Oh My!

CAI isn't gonna do much for you except make your car run like shit without a tune. And the AEM shortram intake for a WRX sux royally.
The MAF dosen't sit well on it (poor design). It sits loose (could cause leak which is bad). I had one and hated it. So I returned it.
And I'm gonna assume the AEM CAI will probably be the same. And I'm not sure about the CAI but on the short ram AEM, the MAF sensor sits on the side where it shouldn't. Should be on top.

APS top mount is fine if that's what you really want.
But personally, I went with an SPT short ram and it's great. Can't go wrong with SPT parts.

HuH?? i think you missread..

Yes you can run an aftermarket intake with the TMIC.. The front mount however will run you into problems as MOSC said becuase they both route piping through the same hole in the fender well.. I would suggest a TUNE soon if your enlarging your TMIC as you will introduce colder denser air into your system which can throw off your AFRs.. IF you must run it don't push it hard.. Just my opinion.

02 WRX.. "It's fun when it runs.. Problem is that it hardly ever does..."

sigh, and here i was hoping to run my ssautochrome tmic with samco hoses by this friday with a stage 2 map from cobb =( How hard do you mean by "driving hard?" I was looking forward to going to the track before it gets too wet, i have a 2006 mazda speed 6 and speed 3 that really intimidate me and wanted to see how i stack up on them.

sigh you are right, its hard though getting new parts and following through with a tune, but i guess the saying comes in "If you dont have time to tune your car the right way, then you better make time to fix it"
