Which exhaust do I have ?

I have an 06 STi with a catback exhaust. If I put a downpipe on it, would it be a turbo-back system, or would it still be a catback system because of the cat on the mid-pipe ?

Is a catback system quieter than a turboback system ? Thanks, Okey

Typically a Down Tube will run to the location of the Cat back which would give you a TBE..

As for the noise, it's going to be a little louder and an little beeper with out the cats. GO FOR IT>.

Becoming catless will make you slightly louder but definitely worth it. Most aftermarket downpipes cover both of the cats so you do not need to worry. You can have the Helix catless downpipe from Gruppe-S for $229 shipped.

Buy an exhaust that comes with a silencer if you're worried about volume. That, or buy the Borla Hush, it's pretty quiet.

The Greddy EVOII is also a quiet Cat Back system.
