Engine Bay: Day One vs. Year Six

I was just flipping through some pics and I thought it was pretty interesting to compare my engine bay from day one of owning the car back in 2007 with only 36 miles on it to after having it for five years and driving it over 107k. I'm sort of at a point where I don't know what to do with it next, but I'm still thoroughly enjoying it.

...and shaddup Randy, I know it's dirty!!!

What front grille do you have I've been looking for one of those for awhile? Like the mesh look.
Thanks

Thanks, it's made by Grillcraft. I cut all the plastic "X" mesh out of my stock grill pieces with a dremel tool, sanded/painted them, and then screwed the Grillcraft inserts to the remaining frames. It took some time and effort, but I think it looks much better than simply screwing the inserts over the existing grill.

I don't see a difference in the bay John, looks as good if not better than day 1.

The second pic was taken after a quick wipe down in the middle of winter - I missed quite a few spots (notice the salt around the edges of the radiator stays, on timing belt cover, and on top of the headlight, etc.). It's embarrassing, I tell you! I guess I'll have to go take another picture

When the weather warms up again, I think I'm going to paint my intake pipe black. You can see where the some of the polished aluminum finish rubbed off due to having the black plastic scoop mounted next to it.

I also wish there was a better way to route the hoses coming from the GS AOS. I think it was Sandra who said it looks like an octopus on top of the engine.

Nope, the 06/07 intake manis are silver/metal. Subaru introduced the black/plastic ones in 2008.

I knew I saw that somewhere. Is that the year they put the Hershey bar sized intercooler and gaping hood scoop on it too.
