Ecu Reflash Vs. Cobb Ap Or Utec

I need anyone's opinon on which is going to give better gains and is all around a better choice for Engine management a reflash or a seperate ECU. A local shop around my area said the will reflash my ecu for around $500. I am planning on getting a TBE, MBC, and intake, then they will protune a map for me. So my question is do all of you suggest a reflash or a Cobb AP or a turboxs UTEC?

If those are the only mods you plan on doing, the AP or reflash is all you need.

Stay away from the MBC, you won't need one if your getting tuned and there bad for our cars anyway. Either one will do the job just fine. I personaly have the Ecutek and love it. But I didn't tune it myself I had it profesionaly tuned at XXTuning. Your best bet is to go with what your tuner likes best and gets the best results with.

My turbo's fixed and a lot better =)

just go with a reflash if you dont want to switch between maps.

If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing

UTEC is the bomb! You can do more than any of the other tuners. And if you are interested in one, I dont know how cheep you can find it for but I can get them well atleast the 07 Utec Delta's for around $820 shipped

AP is so easy to use a cave man could do it!! and just about everyone can tune with it. Hydra isn't bad from what i have been told by other tuners.

MBC are not a good idea. it takes away from the control of the boost from the ECU. So if by chance you over boost your Computer wont be there to save the day.

Agree...stay away from the MBC. The ECU controls boost based on engine speed and throttle position...MBC is one boost fits all. The ECU can save your engine...

I just flashed stage 1 with AP two days ago and am loving it. It took me all of 10 minutes

and the gains are substantial. The car just feels like it woke up. Looking forward

to stage 2.

Its all in the person. Smart isnt the same for everyone. I couldnt be happier with my Cobb AP, but I dont know much and dont care to know too much about the other EMs out there. Might be a time when that needs to change, but until then, OP get what you think is right for you, or the shop that might be doing your tuning on your car.

Not tune with it, but flash their ecu, yes

Tuning is different, not everyone can.

Hydra = Good, but $$$

AP is good for starters, or those who want to switch maps back and forth, or like the features of AP v2.

ECUFlash/OpenECU > Ecutek...

Lol, that's me though, some prefer Ecutek
Both are ecu flashes, just one requires the license...
