Downpipe question

I have a friend who has an 07 WRX and suggested i should go with a AEM short ram intake with a cat back w/out a downpipe. I know for a fact that short ram intakes are better but I am kind of skeptical about him not suggesting a downpipe. What do you guys think about it? downpipe or no?

No intake, unless you are getting a protune or a big turbo...Downpipe and catback (full turboback system) and a Cobb Accessport..Stage 2 great improvement over stock...oh yea, and a protune.

just don't forget to get some kind of EM cause you can't run a downpipe with the stock ECU map

+1. If you are looking for the biggest gains with the current set-up, a downpipe with engine management [Cobb's AccessPort] would be the best way to go.
