The service manager at the local Subaru dealer was at my work today. I showed him what I had done to my car and asked about the warranty. He said "As long as the item does not directly cause a warranted item to fail, you are fine. There is no use in pissing off a customer." Sound good to me, as long as they don't blame the parts in the future. I think that I may run in to something like "Cause of broken tranny=to much extra HP." At least there is hope!

I had a catback on my first Subaru. It gave a lot more noise and a nice little kick to my powerband. It was a Pro 1 Performance muffler CBE. I probably didn't get much extra HP, but the turbo spooled faster so the earlier power made the car better. I definitely wouldn't spend 1k on a TBE. I got a 75 dollar dynomax ultraflo SS muffler, ebay TXS knock off bellmouth DP for 115 dollars, 150 for an exhaust shop to weld 3" piping to connect it all with hangers. I also got a chrome tip for 30 bucks 3.5"... I had great luck with a custom exhaust but remember to have them weld a flange in between the pipes if you want to put the stock exhaust back on.... Other than a few intake mods (K&N air filter and samco IC hoses) and a new clutch / flywheel, this setup allowed me to run a whole second faster in the quarter than when I first got the car.... ching ching
