There is about a thousand option for those years Import Image Racing: Turboback Exhaust Packages , and best is VERY much based on personal taste. I personally would be mostly concerned with something that sits straight at the tail pipe. I see all kinds of ghetto crap hanging off the back of these around here. I prefer a nice clean look, not a baller gangsta can hanging off the back. BTW, it'd be TBE. (turbo back exhaust, not header unless you include an up pipe in the system replacement)
Brad is very right on that explaination. Every knows on this site that I like to push Cobb products. So of course Im going to recommend Cobb. Several reasons, quality work, great fitment, stock look, great sound, and the DP has a spot that you can put in your wideband sensor if you ever want to run one. But Perrin makes a nice setup, GP Moto, or get a quality bellmouth DP and any type style/sounding cat back you want.
Way too much personal opinion will come from everybody because of what they have IMO. If money isn't an issue then the best exhaust is obviously an afterburning jet engine. Sorry to be a dick but that's kinda like asking who you think has the best car on the forums, you'll never get a solid answer.
My advice though: Perrin, COBB, Borla Hush for low rumbles, low volume. TurboXS for a loud system.
Other ones I have seen/heard of: HKS, Invidia, Apexi, AVO, Blitz, Greddy, JIC, Fujitsubo.
Stick to the name brands and you shouldn't have many issues, just find the sound you like that meets the piping diameter you think you'll need (can't go wrong with 3" IMO) and slap it on...
After all, all exhausts and intakes are the same right guys
Also, some of these options depend on what you are looking to get out of your exhaust. Do you want a big fart can out the back or more of a stock look? For example, Cobb is a great exhaust but looks stock. As compared to HKS is bigger looking. Bigger usually will attract more cops and louder. The stocky looking ones are quiet at idle, but at WOT they roar. My advice is search google or youtube and just listen to exhausts. You will buy what you want to buy, if you want a cheaper one, it is going to be cheaper, if you want quality you are going to have to spend more.
I know its not the answer you want to hear, but you will be more happy when you research your own exhaust and then put it on. For example, I went with with SPT on my 05 wrx. Not as popular as some, but I know that Subaru backed it, didn't void warranty, looked stock, and sounded nice. Because I did the research and sought after it, when I got it on it was just sweetness to my ears. Good luck man, any of name brand exhausts stated above would be fine, its all about you and just pulling the trigger on one.
Best functioning downpipe for a street car = Cobb w/ cat
Cast high-flow bellmouth design (material thickness here reduces in-cabin noise), two bungs (one open bung for stock O2 sensor, one plugged bung for optional wideband sensor - easy to access from engine compartment), high quality durable stainless steel construction, thick flange, perfect fitment, slight taper at the end which allows for almost any other cat back (including stock) to mate nicely with it using either the factory-style donut gasket or a flat 3" 2-bolt gasket, high flow catalytic converter
Best looking/sounding cat back for a street car = HKS Hi-Power Carbon-Ti
Full 3" design with angled exit and minimal bends, high quality durable polished stainless steel construction, thick flange, perfect fitment, Carbon fiber wrapped canister, Titanium heat treated colorful "blue" 120 mm tip, moderately loud most of the time, quiet enough when you need it to be, boderline-extremely loud at WOT
And both are direct bolt-on pieces. That's what I have on my 07 WRX
I hit up Crawford Performance's website, and took a look at that Gymkhana 2 Exhaust Ken Block uses. I looooove the sound it makes =] I'm waiting on the guy to email me back with some info.
Then you're going to need equal length headers to truely get that sound. You'll have the same exhaust but not as high pitched since you still have unequal headers on the car. Get the Crawford exhaust and Perrin Equal Length headers and you'll be all set.
i have a greddy ti c exhaust and invidia dp sounds great its loud but the man hasent f#%ked with me. i still have the greddy mid pipe, i have the invidia mid pipe with no resonator it needs to be extended to fit,it may make the exhaust louder.i hope the man wont pull me, my dp is not cated :shhh:
