How loud is it and have you had any trouble w/ the cops? I'm really digging the look of straight pipes right now. Haha.

If you're talking about running one all the way back, it will sound like crap.

used to live at an apartment complex where a guy ran his WRX without the muffler...it was very loud and the word I would use to describe it is "brash"

Brash is a good description. I have a pretty loud exhaust. I could go louder in town since they're very lenient around here. I'd probably get in trouble for a straight pipe, but when I ran one for a couple days during my turbo install, I realized why I liked the sound with a muffler. "Cleans" up the sound.

It kills the raspy noises, just like a CAT can...oh noes because people hate CATs half the time, but the CAT is more than just a restriction. High Flow CAT is better than no CAT.

My first thought about a WRX with straight pipes is that the owner... is someone I wouldn't like.

No, I think straight pipes are a pretty clear middle finger to the neighborhoods you drive through. If you don't see it that way, you must not have kids... which may not be a bad thing

There are no performance reasons to do it. I don't care if you like the sound or not, you're not the only one who hears it.

I do have kids (2) but some things can't be substituted, what he likes/wants/loves... lol

I do understand the whole loudness part but then again, I don't go zipping through the burbs.

Yeah, I always feel bad coming home late at night going thru neighborhoods. I try to idle as much as I can thru them, but damn. Even idling will rattle old windows.
