Angry Aftermarket Downpipe? 06+ WRX

I have been told that the use of an after market downpipe on the 06+ WRX beeing that the 2.5L creates too much air and cannot push it out fast enough can cause boost creep and spiking so a downpipe cannot be installed unless the turbo is upgraded and you get an accessport first is this true?

Does anyone already have an after market downpipe on their 06+ WRX without tuning?

What about headers do you need to tune with headers as well?

Its not that you cant put a DP on your car, you cant run a catless DP. A catless DP doesnt have enough back pressure. Read Cobb's service bulletin.

be careful though a catted DP may also cause creep on the 2.5's. i saw it happen first hand on my friends 07!

Yes,it is a good idea to tune with headers or you might be disapointed.

Ummmm i had a downpipe on my car for over a yr and no tune. I just got my car tinted and ray from turbotek was there and he gave me a stage 2 tune. So i got power now and no boost creep for me. I m hitting 17psi in 4 gear and that getting on it at 2500 rpms in 4th gear. I dont have accessport at all he hooked his laptop up to mine and said lets take a drive and he put the tune on before we drove and we ran some numbers while driving and i feel so much more power out of my car now i love it i wil never drive anything but a subaru

I've been Catless for 8-9 months now, had an issue at first, it all depends on the style of DP you get. I have Stromung Divorced wastegate, Problem solved for now, I have a helix bellmouth as well that will go back on later.

i have an 06 tr with catless dp and i got it tuned to stage 2 at the same time so i didnt have any problems if you dont then for sure you will get boost creep and bad things could happen the wastegate cycles are not set for a big dp from the factory only the crappy one they put on it

Same thing that wilks132 said just not a pdf and has some graphics. I think its just a matter of changing the "pill" so to speak.
