2.5 swap

So heres what i got planned, its not going to be for a while but i want to start preparing now. I have an 05 wrx with 71k, i know EJ20's last ALOT longer than that but thats beside the point, when i reach around 120-130k i want to do an 2.5 swap maybe even go to an H6, but i havent decided yet, i also want to go to a 6 speed. I know what you all are thinking, why dont i just go to an STi, i just might but am looking at my options. How much would it be to swap all that stuff out? I know you have to swap the PCM and all the modules. Can anyone give me an idea of how much it will be? The reason why i dont want to go to an STi is because i hate buying used, you never know what the car has been through, and i love the look of the 05 and a new STi is too pricey.

Well..

STI Short Block = 1800 or so.
Gasket kit = depends
STI Trans = USED so your non used issue is stopped..
A Cobb AP can handle the Hybrid 2.5 block with 2.0 heads..

It can actualy be done very cheaply if you do some work.. Minus the 6 speed that is.. That can cost up to 6gs alone..

H6 is uber expensive. sti motor swap is relativley cheap compared to the transmission swap. id go to a full STi motor though so you get theAVACS(?) head.

Instead of swapping the motor, It'd be cheaper to get a 2.5L short block and do some internal work if you really want a monster. As for the tranny, forget the damn 6-speed. It's totally not worth it and far from indestructible. A PPG is $5k installed with 1-4 as bulletproof as you're going to get. Throw in a monster turbo and you're already well over $10k... an H6 + sti tranny would probably cost more than your car did new to get working right and would put out far less power and be weaker.

See the list of the mods I put into my car (on my member bio). Total cost to me, including transmission parts and labor will be around $13,500. Some parts were already on the car when I bought it (uppipe, exhaust, radiator). I sold my AVO turbo and stock block and stock cams, but I am not subtracting what I made on those parts from the total cost listed here. Stealth Car doesn't even begin to describe. Even without the transmission upgrade, and detuned, it eats STi's for lunch.

on an 03 you would want to look into Pinks at minimum.. You will also need a retune but other then that NO.. The WRX heads work well with the 2.5L block..

Yea i was thinking about getting the basic's for now, then later tearing apart the engine doing internals and head work. I was gunna go with some 820cc because i am planning on doing a 30R, possibly 35R in the future.

you would basically need a custom map for the hybrid. I love my hybrid lots of preturbo power and tons of post turbo power.

And it awaits you if you do the swap.. The 2.5L block LOVES wrx heads and they work very well together.. It's a great setup..

So all i need are th 2.5 block w/ internals and the stock heads, will i need a new PCM or can i use the STi cobb ap? And what turbo should i look into for getting around 350 whp? As for the tranny, should i just go with a set of new gears? Thanks for all the input, ive definatly trashed the H6 idea. just thought i could get some seriouse HP but not withought selling my soul... why do the STi blocks love that WRX heads, why didnt they just put them on the STi to begin with? I would imagine they give good backpressure for more torque but that might just be with V8's ### thats what im use to workin on
