06 WRX Exhaust System (help)

I am looking into exhaust systems for a 06 WRX, I am a mechanic but do not know a thing about Subaru's I myself am a Honda Guy.
But my cousin and i where talking about her car and she mentioned how she wants it to sound like other WRX's haha. well i figured this would be the best place to look for information on the stock exhaust and reccommendations for mufflers or headers,
i.e stock diameter , also looking for the deep subaru rumble. Emission friendly aswell.
Id appreciate any advice or suggestions, thank you.

Can never go wrong with borla forget the part number but I you get a downpipe it'll help a lot then again you'll need a Cobb as well. Check around on Craigslist in your area normally some Wrx exhaust systems for sale on there.

I my self have a helix catted downpipe with a m2 3 inch catback ( it's cheap but holding up ) with a Cobb stage 2 OTS map on my 06 Wrx. And it sounds very good

Stock exhaust is 2.5"

Most DP's and catbacks you will see are 3" (which is plenty).

As far as a manifold, I would stick to the stocker and get it ported/polished/coated IF you plan on putting up big power. The stocker is fine and is the strongest one you will find for your car. 90% of manifolds on the aftermarket are prone to cracking and not worh the headaches IMHO.

Do you have a budget to keep for each piece? New or used?

Welcome BTW

Best bet would be to check for soundclips on YouTube for all the different exhausts. If you want obnoxious loud I read the Invidia N1 accommodates that. I went with the Invidia G200 myself since it's a bit more subtle.

I bought the Borla XR-1 after listening to numerous setups.

Since it sounds like she's only after the sound I would reccomend only a catback or axle back. That way no tune will be required which will save you alot of money. Sound is personal opinion but, They all sound similar. Some are just louder and have more drone. You can check out sound clips as mentioned above.
