Wingless 08 sedan

I'm looking at taking the little fin off the trunk lid of my 2008 WRX sedan. Does anyone know how it is connected and how would be the best way to do away with it? I'm not really all that sure how it would look either. Thinking about doing a little photoshopping.

Also i'm aware that the 3rd break light is on the fin. What would i have to do to put that inside the back window?

Thanks for any help.

Probably wouldn't need to...but, I'd highly recommend putting the third brake light inside the rear window. Almost certain that its D.O.T. necessary to have a 3rd brake light on every vehicle that is street legal and post mid to late 80s. Except: dump trucks, box trucks, and tractor trailers. They don't fall into that category of needing a 3rd brake light. But, they normally are loaded with lights anyway.

If you look around the member's gallery you will likely see some pics of Sedans without spoilers, as they do not have them on the 08 base model wrx. I you can't find any let me know and I'll drag some up off other forums.

As you can see here looks like there would be a couple mounting holes to repair.

What i failed to realize before my first post is that the 08 sedan also has a break light in the window as well as on the wing. And I searched google and this site for pics but they all had a wing. If you do find some pictures of some wingless 08 sedans please point me the way.

My next question is, if the base model doesn't have a wing could i just buy a trunk lid without one in the color i want from a dealership?

You could that, or like so many others have done in the past, search locally for someone that might want to just straight trade you so you dont have to spend the money on something like that. Or maybe even go to the dealership and talk to them about maybe even just trading one that is on the lot (trunk that is).

I could but that makes way too much sense and would be way too easy. I'm more of a "do it the hard way" kinda guy...

ha, that would be much better thou. Thanks

You will probably run into more trouble by doing that. Some things are just better to be done the easy way. Just remember, sometimes it doesn't turn out the way you want to.

You could post a ad on NASIOC and see if anyone wants to trade...

Can anybody tell me why so many people dont want spoilers? Hell I paid extra for mine from the dealer. I think they look better, and dont they create more downforce which means better stability at high speeds.

If you are going like 80+ MPH. When you can tell me where that is legal on a daily basis, it might help. But its just more for looks than anything else. I LOVE the look of my wingless/spoilerless trunk on my 07 WRX.

Nah...for once, I have to disagree with you josh. 60MPH is all you need for significant downforce. That's why most porches have the wing that will come out at that speed. Plus, it pulls air into the intake... Other cars have them too...like that crossfire's wing extends around that speed. In all actuality. A wing is more for cornering then straight on speed. Straight on speed a spoiler is better. The wing will keep the backend planted when cornering. Can't say I corner at 50+ MPH a lot though...lol.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. You will never see my WRX wingless though.
