Undercarriage Neon

Call me a ricer if you want, I don't care. Anyway, I had an 01 Tiburon (Piece of S###) and I totaled it in the snow. I took the undercarriage neons off and I'm wondering if they can be put on my 03 WRX. Has anyone done this and if so, how in the hell do you get one under the front bumper?

I myself have not seen them on the wrx but do not see why they can not be put on. Im sure you can simply MOUNT them....Thread it to the electricity and place a toggle switch and its done

I have once, but it was on a random pic of a heavily modified WRX showcar. I think you'd need more than one set to make it look right. The idea is to make the car look like it's hovering on a bed of light... but they're never bright enough, or uniform enough around the entire car to pull off that look. Mounting in the front would be hard. The plastic splash guard takes up most of the ground clearance down there. You could either modifiy that or remove it entirely.

Don't do it. It's not just the fact that it's ricer-ish but what's the point?

Yep, the splash guard is the only thing I am having a problem with. By the way, I know how to wire neons and switches. I'm an industrial technician/engineer so the wiring I know.

Does anyone know if removing the splash guard would cause a problem with gravel roads? Before you comment about neons on gravel, yes I have had this set for about 2 years and never had one break because of gravel. And for the last two who posted, the reason is because I want to. The fact that I like the color combination and I haven't seen it at the shows on WRXs are the other reasons.

I support that reason. I say you should be fine, just be mindfull when driving it harder on the gravel or thru puddles since you don't have that extra protection down there. Just don't drive it thru your friend's creek with it.. not that I've ever done such a thing.

Yeah, I kinda figured as much. Don't worry though, I tend to go easy when I am on gravel for the fact that I don't want to need a new set of wheels cause one was bent by a pot hole.

Well, the neon tubes and transformer are in fine. I just have a problem finding a pass-through the firewall so I can get to a switch in the car. Anyone know where the hell one is?

I know where the firewall is. I just can't seem to find any way to get a couple of wires through it.

Pull up the carpet behind your pedals and there's a rubber plug there, cut it and feed the wires through. Pulling the intercooler will make this job alot easier to get to the wires after you push them through.

Good luck with this install. I'm not really much of a neon guy, but when done right, it doesn't look too bad IMO.

If you can, do a write up on this with pics, it will help others in the future.

My car is well, it's like 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag...
