Steering wheel mounted audio controls

So I thinking of trying to add steering wheel mounted audio controls, but I have a few questions. First off, with a stock '10 WRX and a stock head unit is it just a case of getting the wires/harnesses and running them from the head unit to the wheel? Also, is the airbag going to need to be taken out to do this? I'm sure I can find the oem parts to do this, I just don't know what kind of work I would be looking at.

There are third party ones that just attach to your steering column. They can be flimsy sometimes but they don't interfere with your airbag.
