Smoked Taillights?

I have a 2009 WRX sedan, and i really want to smoke my tail lights! I have already tried applying a film to the tail lights when they are removed from the car but there is one spot where the angle is to awkward and the film bubbles up, even with a heatgun. I am simply wondering what are some ways to smoke your tail lights without it looking tacky?

Here are your choices:

1. Use some type of stick-on vinyl sheet/overlay (easily reversable)
a. Do it yourself (less expensive, requires patience, possibility of bubbles and slight fitment issues)
b. Pay somebody to do it for you (more expensive, lower chance of bubbles and slight fitment issues)

2. Paint them (more difficult to reverse)
a. Do it yourself (less expensive, requires patience, challenging to get a perfectly even coating)
b. Pay somebody to do it for you (more expensive, your best bet for an even coating)

Used the Vinyl and didn't make to good of progress so
I used VHT,but like John said it's hard to reverse if you mess up.
Mine didn't come out bad but I replaced them with 06 tails later on.
Was worried bout getting pulled over by the pokey.

VHT comes out decent if you have good can control,if not your going to end up with runs & over spray or even worse to thick. Also make sure you clean them really good and wipe with a cheesecloth some recommend using some fine grit sand paper but every one does it different.

Good luck man.

^ I couldn't pass inspection due to my tinted tails not reflecting.

Check into what your state allows.
