Should I keep these smoked head/taillights?

I'm going back to the dealership in two hours to pretty much seal the deal on a '07 WRX. It has a couple mods, some of those i'm iffy about like the smoked head/taillights. What do you guys think? Replace with OEM lights or keep?

I think that if they fit my 06 STI, you should trade me. They look good on it though.

Post up some pictures of your lights. I might just have to take you up on that offer. Haha.

id keep them on there.. ive blacked my tail lights out and got black faced headlights and i love the look. of course my cars black so ive got the whole black on black theme going.but imo i would keep em.

I wouldnt keep them, just based on the aesthetic appeal of them. If it were a black, or possible white car, or it were the insides that were smoked maybe. But if they are still sealed and have no issues with water getting in them, they should be alrite.

Do those little fin things above the rear window do anything? Smooth the air flow or something? Either way, they look kinda cool.

The fins create little air vortexs that reduce the drag on the car... Supposedly

oh o.k.. Thanks for the answer..... Helloimd4nny, did you get the car last night??

helloimD4NNY 08-21-2011 05:40 PM

Sorry, haven't been on the board since yesterday. But yeah, I did. :D Honestly, I think the fins do little to nothing at all. Lol. The last owner installed them probably for aesthetic purposes. I wanna look for CF ones though.

Wrx1456: You don't want his headlights because they will not have HID projectors in his.

Did Subaru take that out in the '07 model?

newtothegame 08-22-2011 08:47 PM

Only the STI had the actual HIDs in them. Not the WRX. Basically, unfortunately it would be a downgrade for him, and you would need more than just the headlight assembly to run HIDs in a WRX.

Would STi headlights fit my WRX if I were to buy them from Subaru?

turmic 08-22-2011 09:47 PM

Yeah, they would fit....the inside parts are the only thing that they changed. The WRX comes with halogen projector lenses. The STI has HID projector lenses, a HID ballast, and the HID bulb with their head lights. Also a electric cervo motor that can slightly adjust the height of the beam pattern. It gets controlled by a little wheel on the left hand side of the dash where the fog lights, I/C sprayer, or HID light height adjustment switches/buttons go.

I'm not sure if it wires right up though or if it would require some electrical changes or not. Otherwise it the STI headlight housing should be the same size.
