Hey guys .. i got an 06 wrx... only a year and now i have this freaking annoying seat belt squeak on my driver's side. Every time i come to put on my seat belt i get this squeak that sounds like Nails on a chalkboard. !!! Is this covered by warranty ? as well as were is a good mod friendly dealership down in socal? Your info would be greatly appreciated.
This is an easy fix. Remove the black cover from where the belt is comming from. To do this, you have to pull a plastic plug from the rear seat area, and maybe the door trim. I can't remember. When you get it off, there is a piece of plastic flashing (flashing is extra waste material from the result of a molding process) that rubs against the belt when you pull on it. Take a sharp, non-serraded knife across it to remove it. That simple.

This is going to save me so much grief. I hope that cures the problem. My squeak drives me nuts. Everyone's right too...it is much worse when its hot out.
Thanks so much Vew

It would not make sense that replacing it under warranty would even help because it's a problem from casting out of a mold. The seatbelt rubs against the extra plastic which causes the squeak. Like I said, it's a simple fix.

The dealer replaced my whole driver side seatbelt assembly because of the damn squeak. But after a few weeks and some warm weather the squeak came back. Now I dont have to bring it back to the stupid dealership again for stuff they dont know how to fix anyways. I'll just do this little fix myself.
