Rock chips on the side of the vehicle

Alright, I just washed my car in the blow 30 degree weather and found little rock chips all on the bottom part of my doors. Anyone know of a way to help prevent this? Think mud guards would help? I don't even travel that much through the stuff. I remember seeing my ex's Impreza after she washed her car and I though she did a horrible job, but it turns out her entire bottom half of her doors were peppered with rocks! I was going to, but there's no point replacing or painting my side skirts. It looks like a damn badger was chewing on the bottom of them. Good thing they're ABS plastic

It makes it almost seem worthless to make the car look nice at this rate. I can't do any lowering, front lips, or side skirts because they wouldn't last a month where I live. It's terrible! !Cry!

I did find this to be interesting. http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/pr...09scc_projwrx/
Scroll down until you see "Clearshield"

I wish I would have found it before my car got peppered with rocks. The bottom of my sideskirts literally look like a beaver was chewing on it.
