PIAA Upgrade

Hey Scooby Fans-
I have an 05 WRX and i wanted to upgrade my low beams to the PIAAs H1 Xtreme 55w=110W and my fogs to PIAAs H3 Ion Crystal. All the dealers i asked said this change will fry my wires and melt my connectors. Has anyone experienced this or know anything on this topic. Also how do i replace the bulbs in the fogs.

I just purchased the H3 Ion Crystals for my Fogs. I haven't heard any problems with doing that. Infact, I know someone who did, and hasn't had any problems. Anyway, check out this site: http://www.boostology.com/default.as...=1&cid=1&vid=6 (I even pulled up the right year for your car) and you can buy there. As far as I've found, they're the cheapest around, because they include shipping.

If I can remember correctly, there are three screws that hold the assembly together. Take them out, the fog light should come out, then just take it apart and replace the bulb. Make sure not to touch the new bulbs.

Granted, my WRX is an 02, however I can't believe there is that much of a difference in the headlight operations. I changed my bulbs to the PIAA as well. They worked great - for about 14 months, then, one night, they just stopped working. The wires weren't fried, nothing was wrong, but they just wouldn't come on.

I switched the stock bulbs back in and viola, back to normal. Put the PIAAs back in and they worked for a few weeks, then the same thing.
Weird...

Anyway, like I said, nothing was damaged, but they did just stop working. The dealer gave me some tale about how it draws too much power and the computer shuts them down. I never knew the ECU was so omnipotent!

I have no issues with my Sylvania Silverstars. Working great for over a year.

Thanks for all the feedback.... However i lifted my car up on a rack ( i work at a tire shop) and i see no "easy" way to change the bulbs. The 05 WRXs use the new small projector style fogs opposed to the prev gen "rally" reflector type. So i see no visible screws from the front and all i see behind the fog light is the wheel well and underbody coverings. I cant even see the fog light housing. Any ideas?

Look in the owners manual. I know the procedure for changing headlight is in there.

Try this: Headlight assembly

Actually i looked up the fog light replacement in my 2005 WRX manual and it just tells you to take it to a dealership because of its difficulty...

wel to start you off, there are small openings on the side of the foglight assembly in the front... carefully, you can stick a flat head screwdriver or something flat and pop the assembly out but from there on out im not sure ### i have not done it myself but this is ### i was informed..
